The vdW Group discovers, explores and disseminates new ways of using high frequencies (100 MHz through 1 THz and beyond) for spectroscopy, sensing, computing, communication, and biomedical applications.

* We design, build and apply tools for functional imaging and manipulation of nanometer-scale electronics and biomolecules for chemical sensing, drug discovery and advanced computational elements

* We develop and apply coherent spectroscopic near- and far-field techniques in the microwave through far-infrared regions of the spectrum for sensing, security and high-throughput screening

* We measure and model advanced semiconductor devices and circuits using broadband and nonlinear techniques for improved (quantum) computation and communication
